Moondrop Space Travel

£25 Budget Killer? First Impressions.

Published: October 23, 2023

When Moondrop announced their first sub-$30 TWS, the Space Travel, I was definitely curious. Could these be a hard hitter in the budget category? Let's find out.

Unboxing

The unboxing experience is what I've come to expect from a budget release – a basic box with a small amount of accessories. The design is nice, but the plastic shell looks foggy. Unfortunately, due to the loose case, the buds shook loose and turned on, draining battery.

  • Short Type C cable (A male to C Male)
  • Tips (S, M, L - oval shape)
  • Documentation
  • Case & Buds

Standard tips were uncomfortable and oval-shaped, though aftermarket tips fit.

Build & Fit

Fit is inoffensive, pleasant with foam tips. Very light. Case quality is polished but buds fall out easily. The clear part attracts grease.

QC Alert: My unit had sharp seams on the buds which cut my ear. Amazon support was unhelpful. I had to sand it down myself.

Sound Quality

For the price, the sound is impeccable (unless you are a basshead). Used with Pixel 6 (AAC) and FLACs. Sound profile didn't "wow" at first, but they sound well-tuned and spacious. Bass response isn't incredible even with "Basshead" EQ.

Annoyances

  • No Multi-device support
  • Bottom Charging Port
  • Touch Delay
  • Poor Battery Life
  • Weak ANC
  • No IPX Rating

Verdict

Good for the price, but don't expect amazing things outside of sound quality. Half-baked in some areas. Good tuning for budget, but build quality screams budget.
